Thinking about the word Relax left me pondering the differences between Rest, Relax and Recover.
Rest and Recover are what we do when we’ve run out of energy. We plonk down on the couch and vegetate.
Relax, on the other hand, is what we do when we still have some energy, when there’s room for stimulation, when we think creatively, when life smiles.
I think relaxing from time to time results in a greater level of restoration than the couch can ever give us.

My selection for today’s Daily Press photo challenge did not see me very relaxed that day. I’d just parked the car and was preparing the camera for my walk. I saw the paddle boarder out on the lake and rushed and ran and snapped and snapped, the sun in my eyes, hoping that I’d get something.
In spite of the flurry getting the image, the image itself is one I treasure because I do relax when viewing it – a stimulated relaxation that is somehow restorative.
