Last year, they pulled up the pavers at Bowes Place.
They stacked them neatly.
They dug a big hole and put up a shiny new public lavatory.

Gradually, the pavers returned.
But not to the same spot.
It’s probably the cheapest public artwork in Canberra.

The connections have been disrupted by time and circumstance.
Yet, there is something musical about the scattering of colour across the clay surface.

They sing a different song now.
