These are the first images in a new series called Road’s Edge. The rules are simple. Stand on one side of the road. Look directly across the road. Ensure the other edge of the road runs along an edge of the image.
These tanks were a mystery. They may have been water tanks. They could have been used for grain storage. The paddock in which they were sitting had been burnt, perhaps deliberately. Burning the stubble of a wheat crop is still practised by some farmers. The scent of burning stubble is one of those evocative childhood memories, particularly when there is also a hint of rain in the air.
